BROMYARD RFC

Junior Section

The summer has been and I hate to say it, all but gone in the blink of an eye. The good news is that the new 2010/2011 rugby season is knocking at our door, full of new and exciting prospects.

Over the summer I’ve worked hard to build a good relationship with Gloucester Rugby Club. Premiership players and coaching staff will be coming up to our club to add a new dimension to training. We will receive invites to play at half time during some of their home games, as well as receiving signed merchandise which helps raise funds for our club. We’re also lucky enough to have Gloucester RFC providing rugby camps at the club, starting next April.  Information will be provided closer to the date but we’re looking at running three camps a year at BRFC.

I’m glad to say that after a season at the helm, I’ve firmly got the bull by its horns and look forward to what the 2010/2011 season has to throw at me.  With the support of all involved at the club, I firmly believe that the junior section will keep moving forward from strength to strength and continue to be the envy of the rugby community. Sir Clive Richards quoted a while ago that our junior section punches above its weight. Those words have stuck and the junior section continues to do just that. This success is largely due to club officers who put so much work into the club, but we shouldn’t forget the kids and the importance of grass roots rugby. I believe one of the important aspects of my role is encouraging grass roots rugby within the community and ensuring that children enjoy the sport to the maximum. Winning is important, but enjoyment is the key, and with our fully RFU qualified coaches and officers we can achieve that here at Bromyard Rugby Football Club.

The new floodlights offer the prospect of floodlit games and training under floodlights, enabling us to compete with other clubs, easing our pitch congestion and brings a whole new dimension to our game.

So if you’re interested in the enjoyment and prospects of junior rugby from tag to full contact, come on down.  Boys and girls welcome from 6-16 years every Sunday 10am unless stated otherwise, at our clubhouse along the Bromyard-Tenbury Road.

On a final note, I’d like to welcome all our new officers and member to the club. We welcome a new club chairman in Giles Rivers, and Scott Holloway has taken the helm as 1st team skipper. I wish them all the best for the coming season.

See you there, all the best
